Comprehension Primary School
At our Centre, we focus on building strong comprehension skills that help students interpret inferred meanings and understand texts with clarity. There are 3 stages that are taught – Literal, Inferential, Evaluative and comprehensive strategies are scaffolded through each stage. This ability is essential across all subjects – even mathematics – and forms the foundation for confident learning. These skills become especially important when students later face the high expectations of NAPLAN, Selective School and Scholarship exams.
Students identify and recall directly stated information.
Students interpret meaning using clues, context, and prior knowledge to make logical inferences.
Students evaluate texts using the author’s purpose, language choices, and the reliability or quality of information.
